Loyola Marymount University launched North America's first M.A. in Yoga Studies and remains a leader in the field of Yoga education. Our program fuses innovation and tradition, providing a deep study of Yoga from multiple perspectives.
Students immerse themselves in Yoga philosophy, texts, practices, and history, including the study of Sanskrit, health benefits of physical practice, and modern Yoga's place in the world. Graduates emerge as leaders in the field of Yoga, teaching in undergraduate institutions, running studios and teacher trainings, serving communities through non-profits, moving on to Ph.D. work, and more. The curriculum offers flexibility to follow specialized interests, and financial aid is available.
M.A. in Yoga Studies (Residential)
Courses within this 2-year program are formatted for in-depth engagement and discussion. Students have the option to join a unique group experience in India that allows the opportunity to further enhance in-class material. The program meets the needs of Yoga students and teachers alike who are seeking to expand their knowledge of the tradition in both theory and practice.
M.A. in Yoga Studies (Low Residency)
This 3-year program provides global accessibility that is ideal for students residing outside of Los Angeles and the surrounding area. The hybrid format offers students the opportunity to deeply engage with Yoga through various critical methodologies without having to relocate.
Yoga Therapy Concentration
LMU Graduate Yoga Therapy coursework expands students' knowledge and experience in therapeutic applications of Yoga, including mentored practicums within clinical and educational settings.
